New light: Generation
by 5thGeneration ingot some info from the annual meeting.. unofficially, the 'generation' is now categorized as 2 groups.
the first is 'the 1914 group' and the second is the younger anointed 'contemporaries' who 'actually work for a period of time with those anointed ones'.. the 'generation' is now 'the lifespan of those who actually saw the beginning of the sign and then the lifespan of those who worked with those who saw the beginning of the sign'.. here we go again....

Worldwide Report out - memorial partakers increased 871. Worldwide publishers up 3.2%
by yadda yadda 2 inseems the 2010 yearbook is out now in audio.
it's reported there was an 8.7% increase in memorial partakers to 10,857 in 2009, up from 9,986 in 2008.. worldwide publishers for the 2008/09 service year increased 3.2%, to 7,619,270 publishers.. thanks to information posted by possible-san at the end of this thread:.

when the end failed to come in 1975, wts offered their explanation that eve was created some time after adam, and that some time passed before she and adam sinned.

Really, you make it sound so plausible and Watchtowerish. I think you have their tricks all figured out. I guess there is not much chance of an end to their doctrines in our lifetime. Too bad, I have kids still trapped inside, like many others on here.

Just wanted to say welcome and I hope you can smooth things over with the family. Remember you need to be honest with yourself, but you don't owe everyone else access to your private thoughts.
It is great you and your wife are on the same page. That is a great foundation. Take good care of the little ones and give them a balanced life and a great future.

(crazy, maintaining a double life requires secrecy the cia would envy) i did however want to share this with you, and i need your thoughts and experiences if possible.. i just got a fairly decent job promotion, significant enough pay raise, and better hours.
i'm grateful too, happy even.

Better hours, better pay, sounds like a blessing to me. It is not from an angry spirit guy in the sky though, it is a reward for your hard work.
Even the Bible says that it is a gift from God to work hard and enjoy the fruits of your labor. You need to stop that nonsense playing in your mind put there by the society.
You worked hard, did a good job and were rewarded. Anyone that tells you differently is just jealous. Sometimes the hardest person to convince is ourself.

by edlewiese inok i have asked several of my friends and they have never heard of being chased by a committee before.
so i am hoping someone has some insight.. .
i'll give you background and yes i am not innocent in the situation but what i was raised to believe is being contradicted by the actions of the elders.. .

Depends on what exactly was in that letter. You could say you thought your husband was free to remarry scripturally because of HIS behavior. If the letter is not specifically about your behavior, fight it. Make them come up with 2 witnesses.
They can and will disfellowship in absentia, so if you want to fight you will have to act quickly.

most of today's jws were not members in 1975 or in the 9 years prior to 1975, so they were not eyewitnesses to what really went on during that period.
i was a pioneer in that period, and i was an eyewitness to what went on.. those jws who are still active today and who were around in that period will typically say it was the "brothers" who "ran ahead of jehovah" and "read more into" the 1975 prediction than what was actually stated.

I was one that studied in that little blue book. It was quite well arranged for leading a person in deeper and deeper. The witnesses back then told me that they did not believe the end was coming in 1975. They gave me the selfish reasons you mention, running ahead and serving for a date.
Little did I know that I was coming into a crazy religion just when many were leaving. It is tribute to the level of mind control that the witnesses would deny what they had just been teaching a few months earlier.
They did that 6 month study time again later. I can't remember just what year. I do remember thinking it was rather extreme to expect a person to entirely change their life in six months and few followed the advice to drop studies after six months.

My Presentation at the UU Church
by Shepherd Book inas some of you already know, i was invited to give a presentation for the minneapolis theosopical society at the unitarian-universalist church a few weeks ago.
the title of my 'talk' was "why does everyone celebrate in december?
" and i discussed the december solstice and holidays celebrated around that time.. of course, i also managed to find a way to talk about jws and their disdain for xmas and all holidays.
